Lady Gaga wore a meat dress during a concert in Tokyo this weekend, and it looked good! It helps that the dress probably wasn’t made from real meat.
It’s been a while since meat broke into the fashion scene with Lady Gaga’s raw-some meat dress, and here’s its long-awaited comeback. Linus Morales directed meat from all cuts of life — along with a lone slice of bread — in his Fabulous Food series featured on TrendLand. Sausages posed to mimic the Chanel logo, a Gucci-branded T-Bone, Fendi fishsticks, and a Louis Vuitton bread slice, this food is nothing short of fabulous.
We have to wonder if even the most dedicated little monsters aren’t at least a little grossed out by this. Lady Gaga’s unforgettable meat dress will be put on display today, joining Billie Holiday’s fur stole and Britney Spears’ VMA outfit, in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame’s “Women Who Rock” exhibit.
Why yes, Lady Gaga‘s meat dress is still a completely relevant piece of fashion history. Well, if it hasn’t rotted by now. But it’s a big deal — so big that at this point even your little sisters Barbie dolls have probably heard of it. Which is why Anna Chong, a student at the London College of Fashion, has created a miniature meat dress from Parma ham — and now, with her instructions, you can, too! (Also, afterwards you totally have an excuse to wrap something in prosciutto and fry it.)
In case Lady Gaga wasn’t already in the running to be this year’s most popular Halloween costume, a steakhouse in New York’s Meatpacking District is jumping on the bandwagon with their very own 112-pound meat dress, complete with marrow bone necklace and headdress.
Well, and there you have it. Lady Gaga has officially outdone herself. Last week, photos leaked of Gaga covered in nothing but meat for an alleged Vogue Hommes Japan cover. Tonight, as her third MTV Video Music Awards ensemble, Gaga wore a dress made of, you guessed it!, meat — which she paired with a “meat purse” and shoes wrapped in meat, wrapped in butcher’s twine.
