We think pregnancy is the ultimate excuse for even the most fashion-conscious women to stow the stilettos, ditch the bandage dresses, and put comfort first for nine months. You’re already dealing with morning sickness and swollen ankles — why subject yourself to constrictive waistbands, too? One woman who hasn’t yet changed up her styling habits, however, is Kim Kardashian. Power stylist Mary Alice Stephenson thinks it’s time for the reality star to finally take a break.
Eighteen designers from Parsons The New School for Design‘s Fashion Design and Society MFA program showed their collections Saturday morning. Sitting front and center to soak it all in was Mary-Alice Stephenson, who wholeheartedly supported the young designers and called them the “future of fashion”.
Click through the gallery to see what Chris Benz, Jonathan Adler, Rebecca Minkoff, Mary Alice Stephenson, and Amy Smilovic had to say about the Olympics. What we learned: everyone loves men’s swimming. Also, the Opening Ceremony is today, you guys!!
There are so many charities out there that it can be difficult to choose which one to support. But for style and beauty expert Mary Alice Stephenson, it was obvious.
It’s a day of thanks, a day of family, a day of watching football and parades on the television. But really, it’s a day of food. So while you’re prepping for this afternoon’s gastronomical marathon, we’ve rounded up some of fashion’s favorite faces and asked them what they’ll be stuffing themselves with tonight. Just a couple weeks ago, Amazon launched MyHabit.com, a new members-only fashion shopping site in what is presumably a smart attempt at taking over some of Gilt Groupe‘s $500 million market. The site is celebrating their launch tonight with a party co-hosted by CFDA executive director Steven Kolb and a special performance by Jenny Lewis (of Rilo Kiley fame) — but we hear that the site also recently tapped stylist (and, yes, sometime Styleite contributor) Mary Alice Stephenson to be their ambassador of sorts.
Have you ever wondered what its like inside a coveted designer’s studio just days before their show at New York fashion week? Apparently in red carpet staple Naeem Khan‘s case, it’s calm, collected, and absolutely stunning.
When we left the Rachel Roy presentation Thursday morning, we had long standing plans to jet back to the office, hunker down on our laptops and play some serious catch-up with fashion week posts. And then by a lucky miracle we found ourselves with a seat at Vera Wang‘s Fall 2011 show which, well, you’ll see.
Sometimes, after a particularly intense weekend of couch lounging and America’s Next Top Model marathons, we’ve found ourselves dreaming of a world in which hottie photographer extraordinaire Nigel Barker waxed poetic about his deepest feelings while we cradled his beautiful and scent-free feet in our hands. Apparently, in Mary Alice Stephenson’s world, that’s called real life.
Besides being a contributing fashion editor at Harper’s Bazaar and having styled such chic luminaries as Scarlett Johansson, Cate Blanchett, and, yes, the First Lady Michelle Obama, Mary Alice Stephenson is also one of the coolest, most down to earth “fashion people” we’ve ever met.
