Last month there was speculation that Rita Ora would be the face of Madonna’s Material Girl collection, and now the Brit songstress has confirmed via Instagram that she will indeed succeed Georgia May Jagger as spokesmodel for the junior line.
Madonna has tapped Georgia May Jagger to front her new Material Girljuniors line. The 20-year-old model will star in back-to-school campaigns.
Madonna and her daughter Lola are on the hunt for the newest face* of their Material Girl line for Macy’s, and they’d like to make sure you know exactly what they’re looking for. Ideal attributes include: a good understanding of irony, a love of shopping, and some feelings about feelings. Other things we learn: Madonna doesn’t eat fruit (“it hurts her stomach”), she doesn’t eat things she “can’t identify”, and Lola doesn’t know how to chew with her mouth closed.
Despite Madonna‘s attempt to get the Material Girl lawsuit thrown out, she will indeed be heading to court to defend her brand.
Catwalk Justice is our weekly column on fashion law, courtesy of Charles Colman of Charles Colman Law, PLLC and LAW OF FASHION. This week, a justification for how much money Alexander McQueen left his dogs in his will, a word on Kim Kardashian‘s lawsuit against Old Navy, and why butter LONDON might have a case against Madonna‘s new line of nail polish for Material Girl.
Kelly Osbourne is the new face of Madonna‘s Material Girl line, and it’s all because of Madge’s too-cool-for-school 14-year-old daughter Lourdes Leon. Today WWD explores the relationship between the two stylish young ladies.
After all of the hullabaloo over Taylor Momsen being ousted as spokeswoman for Madonna‘s juniors label Material Girl, we thought there’d be some kind of competition to find a replacement. But it turns out the only competition was who could capture the attention of Lourdes, Madonna’s daughter.
Taylor Momsen is no longer the spokesperson for Madonna and daughter Lourdes Leon‘s juniors label Material Girl. In a post on the Matierial Girl blog, Lourdes (who totally writes all of the content for that site) wrote that the brand is in “desperate” need of a new face. We thought that from the moment they announced Momsen as the brand ambassador, but we’ll just file this under “proof that hindsight really always is 20/20.” (Galliano is next, y’all!)
Normally, we don’t pay that much attention to Taylor Momsen‘s attitude — despite her distaste for clothing that covers the lower half of her body, we can relate: we were all 17 once. But Momsen looked so downright miserable at last night’s launch of Macy’s Material Girl line that it actually gave us pause.
Who’s the original Material Girl? According to a lawsuit filed earlier this week, it’s not Madonna.
When we begged Taylor to put on some pants, that didn’t mean she could then take off her top. Last night, Taylor Momsen feted the launch of Material Girl for Macy’s — the line designed by Madonna and Lourdes – in the way only Taylor can: in an inappropriate outfit paired with sulky pout.
As part of the launch of Madonna’s new line Material Girl for Macy’s, daughter Lourdes Leon has been blogging up a storm on the brand’s website. At times insightful, at times hilarious, and at times somewhat illiterate, the posts prove that Lourdes is what we’d always suspected: a natural blogger.
Unlike a certain Cruise, celeb-heir Lourdes Leon has managed to keep a pretty low profile. But now that Madonna‘s eldest is all of 13 and has a clothing line to promote, it seems mom is finally letting little Lola loose.
We’ve got to believe it hasn’t been easy growing up with the Material Girl as a mom: the semi-embarassing girl-on-girl make out sessions, occasional African custody battles — not to mention the relentless entourage of paparazzi. But somehow Lourdes Leon seems to have turned out pretty normal and, we might add, stylish beyond her years. So the opportunity to work on a Junior’s line for Macy’s seems like an almost natural next step.
