Last night, in a ceremony that combined the opening of Ralph Lauren‘s new mansion of a store on New York’s Madison Avenue and the designer’s 71st birthday, Mayor Michael Bloomberg awarded Lauren for his philanthropic work and his leadership in business. He’s the first fashion designer ever to receive the honor.
