Sarah Burton To Bow First Women’s Collection At McQueen

Sarah Burton has big shoes to fill. Really big lobster claw-shaped shoes. In May Burton was named Alexander McQueen‘s successor as creative director of his eponymous house. Burton’s first solo show for McQueen occurred in June during Milan Men’s Fashion Week. The show was well-received, but Burton’s true test will come next Tuesday as she debuts her first women’s show for the Alexander McQueen label.

Featuring no shortage of lace-up boots; a motley crew of mixed plaids, stripes, patterns and patches; and the Generation X staple flowy, floral dress, this collection takes us right back to when Kurt and Courtney reigned supreme and the Discman on which we played “Pretty On The Inside” was the hot new musical device on the block. Could it be true? Could a Lady Gaga capsule collection for Alexander McQueen really be in the works?

Though they don’t cite any sources, Fashionising.com reports that the Alexander McQueen label is collaborating with America’s favorite Fame Monster on a collection for Spring 2011.
