Our wildest dreams have just come true. Finally, after falling in love with Michelle Obama’s risqué prom night look, we have the missing piece to the puzzle: Barack Obama’s prom photo, which surfaced today on TIME. Now, we no longer have to use our imagination to picture the handsome first couple together, during, let’s face it, the most awkward night of high school. However, this discovery has also raised a very important question: who did prom style best?
*gasp* Michelle Obama ventured outside with a naked forehead today! Well, half naked at least.
This may be the only time that a tea party at the White House had the effect of making a crowd of women go weak at the knees. But, then, the surprise arrival of a Prince will do that to you. At a tea party yesterday for military families hosted by Michelle Obama and Jill Biden, Prince Harry provided a more than welcome interruption just as they were tucking in to their smoked salmon and cakes.
Who says Easter Sunday calls for pastels? Not this First Family! It was a drizzly day out in Washington, D.C., but the Obamas headed to church undeterred, wearing a colorful array of frocks, ballet flats, cardis, and coats.
The rumors were true: Michelle Obama is on the April cover of Vogue! And, dare we say, this one is even better than the first. Why? Well, the bangs for starters, plus a certain second-term President makes a cameo inside. If you had any doubt that Anna Wintour deserved that promotion yesterday, a coup like this should clear that right up.
After a slew of brand new outfits, it’s nice to finally see Michelle Obama in a repeat (and equally fab) ensemble. She, along with Dr. Jill Biden, spoke to the National Governors Association this morning. Jill looked great, but obviously, all eyes were on Michelle.
Yeah, this happened. Michelle Obama presented the “Best Picture” award at the Oscars ceremony via satellite and, let’s face it, she pretty much stole the show.
We can imagine the nerves that come along with meeting the FLOTUS, but one would think that a late night talk show host, who has shaken his fair share of famous hands, would be pretty jaded when it comes to getting starstruck. Not so for Jimmy Fallon!
The White House has released the official portrait of Michelle Obama for President Obama‘s second term. As we’d expected, she looks amazing.
As far as midlife crises go, a haircut is pretty tame. That said, when Michelle Obama went and got a set of bangs on her 49th birthday last month, it caused a stir that was felt all around the nation.
Oscar de la Renta is, without question, a living legend amongst New York fashion designers. And with good reason: this year marks his 50th anniversary toiling away in the city, creating some of the most sophisticated and elegant collections American fashion has to offer. The 80-year-old sat down with William Norwich for an interview in the new issue of New York magazine, and shared some of his well-earned wisdom and, yes, dished on some of the juicy stories he’s found himself involved in as of late.
Mrs. Obama seems to have toned down her sartorial awesomeness post-Inauguration, now that everyone’s eyes have turned towards NYC. But even in the most basic of wool frocks at the National Prayer Breakfast, she found a way to steal the show.
When Michelle Obama opted for a Jason Wu dress once again for the Inaugural Ball, the designer solidified his status as the first lady’s favorite. But he wasn’t so certain that the dress would work out.
Few have dared speak ill of Michelle Obama‘s bangs since she debuted the new style on her 49th birthday earlier this month. They’ve earned the approval of everyone from Conan O’Brien to Madeleine Albright, and even won the all-important presidential endorsement. But leave it to Karl Lagerfeld to take a contrarian stance on the matter!
And the inaugural attire continues! After a long week of sartorial slam dunks for the First Lady, including a perfectly-accessorized Thom Browne coat, an embellished Naeem Khan ensemble, a true blue Reed Krakoff outfit, and a show-stopping Jason Wu gown, Michelle Obama broke out her fancy pants for one last hurrah at last night’s staff-only inaugural ball.
We don’t know about you, but we were so caught up in the excitement of Monday’s inaugural balls (and, of course, that inaugural gown) that we forgot that last night held even more excitement in the capital. President Obama honored thousands of White House and campaign staffers at one final celebration Tuesday night, and enlisted what he called a “couple of people who are pretty good musicians — Lady Gaga and Tony Bennett.”
The fancy Inaugural Ball may over, but Michelle Obama is still werkin’ it. This morning, she looked as fresh as ever attending the National Prayer Service at the National Cathedral in an ivory Naeem Khan ensemble.
For those of you who were gearing up to recreate Michelle and Malia Obama‘s adorably coordinated winter looks from yesterday’s Inauguration, we have some disappointing news for you: J. Crew will be retiring the pieces worn by both “out of respect for the first family.”
