Milly Page 1
When the Milly x Banana Republic collection was announced back in January, summer was the last thing on our minds. But now that the launch date for the collection (May 30) is rapidly approaching, we can’t wait to get our hands on the colorful, “Hamptons-chic” designs.
As much as fashion shows are allegedly about the clothing, sometimes the front row takes center stage. Case in point: at yesterday afternoon’s Milly by Michelle Smith spring 2013 show, Ryan Lochte was all everyone could talk about and look at. While the Olympian wasn’t doing interviews like at previous shows, he was taking pictures with fashion folk and adoring fans. Do we even have to point out that we shamelessly snapped a photo with him? Because yeah, that happened.
This Thursday marks the start of the marathon known as New York Fashion Week. And since fashion is always a season ahead, while we’re gearing up for fall, designers will be sending out models in breezy spring looks. We’ve got your first look at the inspirations behind their spring 2013 collections, and a peek at what’ll come strutting down that runway.
In one of our favorite collaborations in a collab-heavy year, the CFDA has teamed up with the New York Times to bring 50 amazing photos out of the Gray Lady’s archive.
Despite the ever present line to get in, we tend to view the Milly show as a form of fashion week respite: we’ll have a seat, the clothes will be pretty and decidedly wearable, and there will be at least two friendly celebrity faces in the front row. On Wednesday, those faces were Louise Roe and Kristin Chenoweth, who couldn’t have been kinder and who seemed (at least when we saw them) relatively unmobbed considering their seat assignments.
New York Fashion Week is finally over! It was exciting, beautiful, disorganized, fun and most of all exhausting. And we loved every second of it.
