Oh, dear. Mischa Barton went out on Sunday to watch the 1st Annual Veuve Cliquot Polo Classic – a signature summer event from across the pond — and while celebs like Rachel Zoe and Minnie Driver managed to pull off vintage chic style with aplomb, Barton stumbled in her attempt to channel flapper fashion.
We love Miu Miu. And, to be honest, the more we look at this dress the more we realize it’s actually kind of cute. But in that very specific, hyper-idealized way in that no one other than Rachel Bilson — maybe — can pull it off. Which is why we’re trying to figure out what Mischa Barton was thinking when she put this on and left the house.
Mischa Barton hasn’t had the best luck lately. She can’t seem to get (or keep) an acting gig and she’s been making no small number of no good and very bad sartorial decisions. Which is why we were so surprised to see that bridal designer Rosa Clara had flown Ms. Barton out to Barcelona so that the troubled actress could walk in her fashion show.
We’re just going to get right to the point here: these are the worst shorts we have ever seen. This isn’t anything against Mischa Barton herself — she’s a beautiful woman and she has a very awesome car (see inside) — but these shorts, paired with these shoes, paired with both of these sweaters, make for one of the least-flattering outfits we have ever seen. Nothing brings the party girls out of, um, rehab like a good, old fashioned birthday party. So you better believe any washed up “It Girl” worth her bedraggled roots was out with bells on to celebrate Nylon Magazine’s 11th year. Because what says “we’re totally current” better than a bevy of past their prime party girls? Especially, when they’re led by the poster girl of all things dishevelled and tragic: Lindsay Lohan.
Mischa, Mischa, Mischa. What can we say?
Once upon a time, we’d tune into the O.C. obsessively every week and crave your media mentions so that we could drool over your outfits. Chanel and Chloe were regulars of your wardrobe. You looked impeccable, clean, and put together — even when you were sporting your more casual L.A. look. On and off screen, we wanted to be you. And now there’s this.
