Nicki Minaj Page 1
Well there’s a question we never thought we’d pose. But here we are, comparing the two ladies in the season’s latest weird trend: A statement necklace worn as a shirt.
We’ve already allocated the next 15 of our Paychecks to Topshop, H&M and Phillip Lim x Target anyway, but Nicki Minaj is currently modeling her upcoming Kmart collection over on Instagram. Either that’s what’s happening or she’s just come back from doing Yoga in outer space, where a galaxy threw up on her personalized Juicy Couture tracksuit and forced her to change into something three sizes too small. But judging by the #thenickiminajcollection hashtag, it probably is the stuff young girls are going to be strutting through school halls in come fall.
Fragrance reviews are silly, but sometimes, fragrance marketing is even sillier. What do “playful pastimes” and “nostalgia” really smell like? So from now on, we’ll be crowdsourcing our own fragrance reviews. Read on to find out what our office thought about the latest sample to land on our desk. This week, we’re testing out Minajesty by Nicki Minaj.
After hearing that Nicki Minaj was partnering up with David LaChapelle for her fragrance shoot, we were pretty pumped to see the results. Whether you love the Leader of the Nation of Pinkslam or whether you’re kinda terrified by her, you can’t deny the appeal of the lacquered MAC Viva Glam shoot that happened last time the iconic pair united.
If Nicki Minaj’s collection for Kmart sells out in stores, it will be entertaining, but also put the fear of god in us. After getting a first look, we see all the style elements we’d expect: skin-tight silhouettes, spandex, cut-outs, neon, and dizzying prints, but still, imagining young girls strutting through high school halls in these clothes makes us a little squeamish.
Nicki, is that you?! The perennially wigged-out, neon-lipped, falsies-sporting rapper covers the April issue of Elle, and the glossy convinced her to ditch the day-glo in favor of a way more natural look. Check her out…
The W LOVE Hangover Ball was billed as an evening “inspired by the legendary New York vogueing scene,” so you’d be forgiven for thinking the red carpet would draw the most outré crowd of the evening. However that dubious honor definitely rests with the ARIA Awards in Sydney, Australia, which played host to a slew of outfits featuring cutouts, neon, and sideboob a’plenty.
Julie Bowen‘s chartreuse Monique Lhuillier ensemble was one of the more memorable highlights from the Emmys red carpet, which is why we were so surprised to see Nicki Minaj wear it to the American Music Awards earlier this month.
The parade of Chanel “Little Black Jacket” exhibitions marched on in Berlin last night, drawing the usual coterie of chic femmes. Stateside, Jessica Biel and Helen Mirren fêted “Hitchcock” in high fashion threads, Nicki Minaj stepped out in hot, hot pink, and the Rihanna Plane finally touched down in NYC.
From Taylor Swift’s many costume changes to Nicki Minaj’s homage to Bob Ross, tonight’s American Music Awards featured no shortage of high-wattage stage looks — and we’ve got them all right here.
We’re more of a Diet Coke crew here at Styleite, but after watching Pepsi‘s newest commercial featuring Nicki Minaj, we’re thinking about making the switch.
Survey says: probably.
Of course Nicki Minaj is getting her own fragrance, and of course it’s being made by the people who brought you Justin Bieber‘s Someday.
Nicki Minaj took to the American Idol stage last night to promote “Starships”, the new single off Pink Friday Reloaded. The popstar jumped and gyrated on stage in a blond wig, rainbow top, mullet skirt, and vertiginous heels. She also had a wardrobe malfunction.
Justin Bieber isn’t the only star to have snagged a Complex cover. Nicki Minaj also fronts the magazine’s 10th anniversary, and one of her interview answers is giving us some serious pause.
Alas, Nicki Minaj’s dream of a Vogue cover didn’t come true, but she did get a pretty nifty consolation prize in the form of a blue-tinted profile inside the March issue of the fashion bible.
There’s been no sign of Lady Gaga on the Grammy Awards red carpet, which perhaps worked out well for Nicki Minaj, who arrived in a red cloak by Versace with a fake pope on her arm.
Madonna is just…wow.
Well this isn’t topical at all. Just 48 hours before she’s supposed to perform at the biggest football game of the year, Madonna has released a playful football-themed video for hew new song Give Me All Your Luvin.
Well, people, it’s happening. A New York Times article analyzing the outrageous and often visually arresting style of rapper Nicki Minaj confirms that the artist is doing pretty much everything in her power to get herself on the cover of the fashion world’s bible, Vogue.
