Oprah Page 2
Miss any fashion news this week? From Pippa Middleton‘s repeat McQueen dress to everything that went down at the Met Gala, we’ve got you covered. We also have the video for Lady Gaga‘s Judas, just in case you were wondering.
As far as we’re concerned, there’s no better way to start the day than with a little Lady Gaga — unless of course it’s Oprah. Which is better? We can’t decide, so we’re just going to do both. Yesterday, Lady Gaga performed on the last episode of Oprah’s Harpo Hookups show, where she serenaded the TV sensation and her guest, actor Johnny Depp. And even though Johnny Depp is boss, we more or less forgot he was there as soon as we saw Gaga’s piano.
In case you missed our live-tweets of the supermodel reunion of sorts on today’s Oprah, Stephanie Seymour, Beverly Johnson, Christie Brinkley, Paulina Porizkova, and Cheryl Tiegs all stopped by the Harpo studios to look back at their life-long careers in front of the lens. But while Porizkova was, per usual, a boon of wonderful one-liners, we were most intrigued by Seymour’s response to those oh-so-close photos of her and her son Peter in St. Barth’s.
Styleite loves Oprah. We watch her show in the office, debate her favorite things and totally freaked out when we saw her at the Glamour Women of the Year Awards. Naturally, we want to know the secret to her immense success. A thorough style analysis of Ms. Winfrey has led us to conclude that the secret is sleeves. Lots of sleeves.
We’ve been die-hard Lea T fans ever since we saw her in Riccardo Tisci‘s Fall 2010 ad campaign for Givenchy — and we’ve been fans of Oprah ever since we realized the woman was more or less as powerful as god. (No offense to god, of course.) So you can imagine how excited we were when we heard the transgender model would be making an appearance on an episode of Oprah’s final season.
Last night’s Glamour Women of the Year Awards had Carnegie Hall bursting with so much girl power, it’s amazing the place didn’t explode. Last night marked the awards’ 20th birthday, and the star-studded event certainly did that milestone justice.
Back in April, Vera Wang made brides-to-be across America very, very happy by announcing a partnership with David’s Bridal. While the gowns won’t be available until February, Wang showed them off on Oprah this week.
Naomi Campell just doesn’t seem to be able to stay out of trouble. The supermodel, who has been the center of many a scandal due to her infamous bad-itude, now seems to have found herself in even deeper water. It appears that prosecutors may subpoena Campbell to testify in that pesky blood diamond case everyone keeps asking her about.
It seems not even Oprah can escape the Sex and the City 2 craze. Next month’s O Magazine takes a look at the girl behind the girls: stylist Patricia Field who, in addition to creating Carrie Bradshaw’s image, has been one of the greatest visionaries in the New York fashion scene since first opening her boutique in 1966. And while we were thrilled to get an advanced peak at the stylist’s favorite things, some of her responses left us scratching our heads and thinking, “Huh?”
Finally the juicy gossip about Lady Gaga’s attendance and performance at the Met Gala is coming out. First the Fame Monster kept the red carpet waiting with her step-and-repeat no show, and now Page Six reports that it was because she couldn’t be coaxed out of her changing room — and it took one very big name to get her out. While we’re on the Gaga gossip train, it turns out that Anna Wintour had one very specific request for the Lady, that she promptly and defiantly disobeyed.
It’s no secret that Naomi Campbell’s reputation isn’t exactly sparkling. But between those bouts of phone throwing, camera man-assaulting and the you-know-what storm of bad press surrounding a very questionable diamond, things have quickly gone from bad girl to worse. Now with a 40th birthday on the horizon, it seems she’s going on a PR offensive — maybe that guest list was looking a little sparse…
