How Audrey Hepburn Was Airbrushed For Breakfast At Tiffany’s

0-audreythumb

From pinup portraits to political photo ops, airbrushing has been around forever. But despite excessive evidence to the contrary, we never cease to be surprised by the willy-nilly way it’s overused. And now it turns out that even the ever flawless Audrey Hepburn once fell victim to its revisionist charms.

And just when we thought we were going to make it through an entire week without seeing any missing limbs or whittled torsos, comes this H&M product shot featuring the soon to be infamous Model Without A Face.

Were Pinup Paintings The Original Photoshop?

0-pinupbeforeandafter

We write often and indignantly about Photoshop fails, like the ones that push women’s hips a foot past where they are in real life, or others that lengthen necks so that someone looks more like a goose than a human being. But we have to admit, there’s something rather charming about the way we now know artists took photographs of women and turned them into pinup portraits way back in the day.

Photoshop Wreaks Havoc On The International Editions Of ELLE

0-thumb

There are few things that make us sadder than an absolutely stunning magazine cover ruined by some overzealous photoshopping, except for, well, two absolutely stunning magazine covers ruined by overzealous photoshopping. And in today’s edition of airbrush blunders, both ELLE Denmark and ELLE Mexico are the culprits.

Today in egregious Photoshopping, Victoria’s Secret does some serious legwork on one of its models. Sigh.

Amy Adams may have snagged the cover of British InStyle‘s February issue, but one of the inside photos is causing us some major head scratching. We ask you this, dear readers: where the hell is her other leg?!

PHOTOS: The 10 Worst Photoshop Offenses Of 2010

While those behind and in front of the camera have expressed concern over the prevalence of extreme Photoshopping both in editorial spreads and advertisements, photo retouching is here to stay. Getting rid of blemishes or correcting light balance isn’t a huge deal, but many magazines and advertisers use their Photoshop tools a bit too liberally. As such, we’ve put together a list of this year’s top 10 worst Photoshop offenses.

So. Megyn Kelly, she of Fox News anchor lady fame, put on a slinky black dress and did an interview with GQ. And then GQ proceded to remove half her face.

Irina Shayk Accuses GQ Spain Of Editing Out Her Clothes

0-thumb2

Sports Illustrated model Irina Shayk is reportedly up in arms over her cover and spread for the December issue of GQ Spain. According to a press release sent out by ARC NY Talent PR — which just so happens to be Marc Jacobs‘ ex Lorenzo Martone’s agency — Shayk posed for the European glossy in varying degrees of undress, but never naked. The resulting 14-page spread features three images of Shayk completely nude — a look she claims was achieved post-production.

Katy Perry’s Boobs Are Too Big For The Military

katyperryuso

Katy Perry was just trying to do her part to support the troops when she signed on to perform in VH1′s annual “Divas Salute the Troops” concert. The concert, like all highly produced media events, requires a large number of still images, for which Perry gladly posed as a pinup girl. But when her publicists saw the images, they decided that her breasts looked too big and asked to have them retouched. You can only imagine how they react when they see her in person.

Do You Like Celebs More When They Look Smaller?

reversephotoshop

If you’ve read our humble little site more than once, you’ll know how incensed we get when we see a particularly bad bout of Photoshop tomfoolery. But we saw a post today that made us wonder whether we would feel the same about the process if pictures celebrities were altered to make them look fat instead of rail thin.

Was Jennifer Lopez’ Daughter Edited Into Her Gucci Ad?

0-jlothumb

On Thursday, Gucci debuted its new children’s line with an ad campaign featuring Jennifer Lopez and her twins Max and Emme. While the photos are gorgeous and the cause great (the brand is donating $1 million of the profits to UNICEF’s Schools for Africa Initiative), the post-shoot photoshopping was a little shoddy.

Can You Spot The Photoshop Flub In This Louis Vuitton Ad?

0-photoshop

Marc Jacobs‘ fall ads for Louis Vuitton have been lauded for featuring three different supermodels of varying ages and hair color (diversity!): Natalia Vodianova, Karen Elson, and Christy Turlington. But while the images certainly are gorgeous, it appears the creative people behind the ads took some liberties with the laws of physics.

What Did Dior Do To Karlie Kloss’ Arm?

0-karlie

Karlie Kloss is an 18-year-old, 6 foot tall supermodel — at least in the newer sense of the word — and the latest campaign star to fall victim to embarrassingly bad photoshopping.

Today, we’re proud (and a little disgusted) to bring you two particularly bad examples of digital photo butchering, both from beauty companies whose ad departments apparently hate women’s legs.

Elle‘s EIC Responds To Gabourey Sidibe Cover Controversy

0-gabi

Far be it from us to say what did or didn’t happen during Elle magazine’s October cover shoot with Gabourey Sidibe. But to hear Elle’s editor Robbie Myers tell it, nothing bad happened and the media needs to leave the magazine alone.

PHOTOS: What Did Neiman Marcus Do To This Poor Model?

When will the Photoshop savagery end? Seriously, retailers around the world are wreaking havoc on poor models everywhere. We must put a stop to the cruelty! Let’s take a look at Neiman Marcus‘ latest offense.

RS Mad Men Cover Is Awesome, Totally Photoshopped

0-mademn

Rolling Stone — arbiter of all that is cool and, in all likelihood, naked – shot the cast of AMC’s “Mad Men” for their special television issue. The cover image, which features Elisabeth Moss, January Jones, Jon Hamm, and Christina Hendricks, would be amazing if it didn’t have so many post-photoshopping flaws.

PHOTOS: What Did Bloomies Do To This Model’s Elbow?

0-arms

Another day, another Photoshop fail, this one courtesy of Jezebel and thanks to Bloomingdales.com. So, if you’re in the market for a pretty, poufy-sleeved dress that really accentuates your elbows, then we’re pretty sure you’re in luck.

PHOTOS: Lindsay Lohan’s Incredible Roving Belly Button

0-thumb

Yesterday, we reported on German GQ’s incredibly fortuitous booking of Lindsay Lohan for the mag’s August cover. What we didn’t report on was the fact that Lohan apparently has a magic bellybutton. Before you argue that her high-waisted bikini bottoms are covering up the elusive belly button, we encourage you to click through and take a look at the evidence.
