This may be the only time that a tea party at the White House had the effect of making a crowd of women go weak at the knees. But, then, the surprise arrival of a Prince will do that to you. At a tea party yesterday for military families hosted by Michelle Obama and Jill Biden, Prince Harry provided a more than welcome interruption just as they were tucking in to their smoked salmon and cakes.
We spend our Fridays chillin’ with beers and friends, but for Michelle Harper, Olivia Chantecaille, Prabal Gurung, and more, the end of the week naturally means a black-and-white masked ball.
New York Fashion Week may not have officially started until today, but at last night’s Prabal Gurung for Target launch party, it was clear they were pulling out all the stops to kick off a week of nonstop events. The bash, held in the cavernous Pier 57 space off Mahattan’s West Side Highway, had an over-the-top carnival theme. And we mean it — a colorful carousel, an array of mouthwatering food trucks, people in stilts serving cotton candy out of their XXL pant legs, and a flashing, spinning ride in the center of it all that only the bravest partygoers dared to try.
When Prabal Gurung said that his Target collection was inspired by love, he was’t joking. The 30-second commercial for the collaboration resembles nothing so much as a trailer for a romantic comedy, and despite the cheese, it works.
On the average day, you’d be hard pressed to get us to stop tweeting for any period of time. But for a good half hour at last night’s Prabal Gurung for Target collection preview, we sadly had to stash our phones away. When we walked into the Target Studios in Midtown, we had to sign an ironclad non-disclosure agreement that forbade us from taking any pics. Of course, that makes writing about the clothes and accessories a bit difficult, but thankfully, the designer himself was on hand and walked us through the collection.
We’d like to say we’re tired of all of this collaboration madness — from Margiela x H&M‘s conceptual wares to Neiman Marcus x Target x CFDA‘s humungous holiday haul — but how can we be over it when Prabal Gurung is so gosh darn excited to finally get his turn designing for the masses?
Lest anyone start to think Kate Middleton was just phoning it in with her flawlessly fitted dresses, sporty-appropriate skinnies, and classic blazers, the Duchess of Cambridge stunned in two different floral numbers while in Singapore on the first day of her and Prince William’s Diamond Jubilee Tour.
Pier 57 along the West Side Highway was transformed into a really (and we mean really) long runway for Prabal Gurung‘s spring 2013 show. As we waited in the heat for the show to start, we chatted up Simon Doonan, and picked his brain on our current flavors of the month: Ryan Lochte and Prince Harry.
For a night devoted for fashion, you’ve got to bring your A-game on the red carpet. And at last night’s Style awards, most did just that.
The only thing we love more than nail polish is nail polish strips, which is why we’re insanely excited to see that Sally Hansen‘s newest set of strips feature floral prints from Prabal Gurung‘s spring collection.
The Hunger Games may well be the most highly anticipated movie of the year, which makes dressing its star, Jennifer Lawrence, one plum gig. As of last night’s premiere, that honor goes to Prabal Gurung, whose gold lame gown fit the actress like a glove.
Has British department store Primark knocked off Prabal Gurung for their spring collection? Photo evidence indicates it’s very likely.
In case you hadn’t heard, Leandra Medine — the blogger known all over the place as The Man Repeller — isn’t repellant to men at all. In fact, she’s currently planning her wedding, and she’s already earmarked one of the biggest names in fashion to design her wedding dress.
Lady Gaga launched her Born This Way foundation at Harvard on Wednesday, accompanied by Oprah, U.S. Health and Human Services Secretary Kathleen Sebelius, and one very hot-off-the-runway neoprene coat by Prabal Gurung.
Finding the check-in for Saturday night’s Prabal Gurung after party felt like some sort of sartorially-inspired, Sisyphean task. As we walked from one doorman to another (and back again), and from the lobby to the elevators to a freight entrance driveway (seriously), we wondered if the whole rigamarole was worth it. And then we heard Bieber was in the house and realized our tribulations were trivial in the presence of the such teenage glory.
From darkness to light, from hell to heaven, Prabal Gurung once again hit a runway homerun.
