In case you hadn’t heard, Leandra Medine — the blogger known all over the place as The Man Repeller — isn’t repellant to men at all. In fact, she’s currently planning her wedding, and she’s already earmarked one of the biggest names in fashion to design her wedding dress.
Lady Gaga launched her Born This Way foundation at Harvard on Wednesday, accompanied by Oprah, U.S. Health and Human Services Secretary Kathleen Sebelius, and one very hot-off-the-runway neoprene coat by Prabal Gurung.
Finding the check-in for Saturday night’s Prabal Gurung after party felt like some sort of sartorially-inspired, Sisyphean task. As we walked from one doorman to another (and back again), and from the lobby to the elevators to a freight entrance driveway (seriously), we wondered if the whole rigamarole was worth it. And then we heard Bieber was in the house and realized our tribulations were trivial in the presence of the such teenage glory.
From darkness to light, from hell to heaven, Prabal Gurung once again hit a runway homerun.
T-shirts and wunderkind designer Prabal Gurung are both pretty high on the list of things we love, so naturally when we found out that Gurung will add T-shirts to his collection, we got pretty excited.
This week the Obamas wore awesome things, Elizabeth Taylor‘s jewelry sold for a whole lot of money, and Courtney Love got evicted. We also learned that Meryl Streep is a total kickass feminist, and that Fashion’s Night Out is unfortunately here to stay.
Vogue put Rooney and Kate Mara on this year’s best dressed sisters list, and last night the stylish siblings battled it out on the red carpet.
Yesterday the fashion and beauty worlds were abuzz with news that Prabal Gurung would be designing new uniforms for Sephora. Last night we got to see the designs and chat about them with the designer himself.
If you’re anything like us, you’re obsessed with the genius that is Prabal Gurung, but you can’t quite pay runway prices. Fear not! Now we can all own a piece of Prabal! No, he’s not going the collaboration route — he’s just been named chief deisgner for ICB.
The holiday season is officially upon us, and Barneys knows just where you want to shop: Gaga’s Workshop.
In one of our favorite collaborations in a collab-heavy year, the CFDA has teamed up with the New York Times to bring 50 amazing photos out of the Gray Lady’s archive.
You know all those jokes about putting lipstick on a pig? (Or, alternatively, putting a hog in armor?) Well, it turns out dressing a pig up can actually be pretty effective — so long as that pig already famous. Which is Why InStyle magazine partnered with some of the hottest designers working today to dress the one and only Miss Piggy for the November issue.
This week saw the end of the Week of Fashion, and what a successful week it was! We brushed shoulders Beyoncé, and chatted with the likes of Tavi and Carine Roitfeld. We also bore witness to the fact that Lindsey Lohan had a less successful week. Marc Jacobs seems to be headed to Dior, even though he’s demanding a huge paycheck. And Suri Cruise wears lipstick. Deal with it.
Prabal Gurung is a designer you can’t help but root for. He’s young and passionate and exceptionally talented. An industry darling, he doesn’t even have his own store yet. (Of course, this is because yesterday he presented his sixth collection.) It’s hard to believe Gurung struck out on his own less than three years ago, and he just keeps getting better.
Prabal Gurung might be best known for dressing First Lady Michelle Obama, but as demonstrated by Rye Rye’s edgy music video featuring his designs, Gurung is capable of more than just creating gorgeous gowns for White House events. Luckily for us, Gurung recently took the time to reveal some of his design inspirations when he spoke with Rolling Stone about his collaboration with the pop diva.
Music and fashion have always made for good bedfellows, but every now and then a pairing comes along that is so awesome you can’t help but wonder what took them so long to match up. Lady Gaga and Nicola Formichetti are an obvious example, but an even better and slightly more unexpected pairing comes in the form of Prabal Gurung and M.I.A. prodigy Rye Rye.
The nominees for the Council of Fashion Designers of America‘s 2011 awards ceremony are set, and the list is more or less a roster of the coolest kids working in the industry. And when we say kids, we mean kids. Because for the most part, this year’s nominees are pretty young. Also: Lady Gaga was nominated!
In case you needed more proof than his clothing that Prabal Gurung is one of the most awesome young designers out there, here’s an absolutely adorable video of the designer talking about growing up in Nepal, being bullied, and the young teacher from Ohio who changed his life.
