That’s exactly what happened when Michelle Obama showed up at the White House state dinner with South Korean President Lee Myung-bak and First Lady Kim Yoon-ok, wearing a custom dress by Korean-American designer Doo-ri Chung.
We noticed something during the United Nations General Assembly that might upset you, if you’re a fashion person. No, we’re not talking about when Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu called the entire organization a “hall of darkness” for his country. No, instead, you might be upset to know that none of the various heads of state really seemed to care what he put on his or her back.
First lady Michelle Obama can’t go anywhere and not look good, and she proved that yet again on her recent trip through Southeast Asia. Mrs. O and the president stopped in India and Indonesia where they visited temples, official residences, sites of tragedy and mirth alike — and the even did a little fancy footwork with a few schoolchildren.
