The pint-sized actress stopped by the set of Chelsea Lately yesterday to talk about the costuming for her next project: the starring role in a remake of Annie.
In Beasts of the Southern Wild, youngest-ever “Best Actress” nominee Quvenzhané Wallis sticks to a grungy uniform of a tattered tank top and rolled-up jeans. In real life, however, the nine-year-old is clearly partial to glitzier fare. Wallis stopped by The Tonight Show with Jay Leno yesterday with director Benh Zeitlin to talk about the film, the fast-approachingAcademy Awards, and whether designers are clamoring over one another to dress her for the big day, and wore the kind of awesome outfit grown-ups secretly wish they could get away with.
While the other nominees for Best Actress at this year’s Academy Awards will no doubt be tapping the couture houses of Paris and the diamond purveyors of Fifth Avenue and Rodeo Drive for their red carpet looks, 9-year-old Quvenzhané Wallis is a whole other story. How to look both age appropriate and appropriately glamorous for the biggest Hollywood event of the year? Well, Wallis has at least one part of her outfit set and ready to go: her puppy purse, which she says is her “signature” accessory.
We don’t need to tell you that 9-year-old Quvenzhané Wallis, the youngest-ever nominee for Best Actress, is going to be the cutest thing to hit the red carpet at this year’s Academy Awards. But we will show you that she will be, by means of this adorable video of the Beasts of the Southern Wild actress meeting with Vogue‘s André Leon Talley.
