Ten years ago today, The OC debuted and it totally has us reminiscing for the days when we were positive that Mischa Barton had a long and fruitful career ahead of her. Yes, we were young and naive, and that’s why this TV show introduced us to many things that characterized our middle school years. We swooned over Ryan Atwood, quoted Seth Cohen (while crushing hard on him too, duh), imitated Summer Roberts’ sass, and lusted after Marissa Cooper’s closet.
Well this is definitely one of the most visually cohesive red carpets we’ve seen in a while. At yesterday’s CW, CBS And Showtime 2013 Summer TCA Party we get the feeling that that the majority of attendees had some sort of “I’ll wear my black dress and my blue nail polish, you wear your white dress with the blue sequins” arrangement. Or at least there was some sort of memo specifying a ‘crisp, monochromatic dresses and separates spiked with pops of off-primary colors’.
We can’t imagine that hanging out with an OC cast member would lure Aubrey Plaza out of her sullenly awkward comfort zone. And nor can we see the star of those sticky sweet Magnum commercials getting buddy buddy with apathetic April from Parks and Rec.
While The Bling Ring’s most famous victim, Paris Hilton, didn’t waste a second jumping on the film’s press bandwagon, other targets of the troop of young thieves — including Lindsay Lohan, Paris Hilton, Orlando Bloom, Megan Fox, and Rachel Bilson — aren’t too happy with the light the film sheds on the string of 2009 robberies. And now Bilson has spoken out against Sofia Coppola’s glamorized portrayal of the high profile larcenies.
Attendees opt for the soft and the ladylike at the annual benefit.
Small screen stars from The CW, CBS, and Showtime made their way to the Beverly Hils Hotel last night for the Television Critics Association‘s Summer Party. The red carpet was, as usual, a fairly mixed bag.
We miss most things about The OC, including Rachel Bilson‘s sassy Summer Roberts. Now Bilson plays a doctor on some CW show we don’t watch, but she may have just changed our minds.
If we could have it our way, we’d wear our chunkiest sweater and favorite boots year round. Wouldn’t it be perfect if these easy-to-wear staples were in style, regardless of the season? Well, now they are, thanks to a handful of celebrity trendsetters. Pairing cold-weather pieces with lighter wear heightens your outfit from the traditional to the unexpected, effectively accomplishing the ever-so-difficult task of being stylish in the summer heat.
As they prepare to open a slew of stores in new locations including China, Thailand and the Philippines, Sunglass Hut revealed that Rachel Bilson will be modeling and blogging for the vendor, as well as traveling to some of the store’s foreign sites.
In a fashion fantasy world, does it get much better than snagging an invite to Chanel‘s annual cruise show in the south of France? (A ticket to one of Karl’s couture shows doesn’t count — that’s just impossible.) That’s why these photos of the Kaiser’s favorite lady muses (and, of course, Baptiste Giabiconi) will have us daydreaming about Cap d’Antibes for the rest of the day. And also wondering how Blake Lively managed to not give photogs a full view of her underpants, but more on that in a sec.
The festive season is indeed upon on — there were so many events that went down this weekend! While we stayed in our sweats and blogged about Willow, Hollywood’s elite put on their finest frocks and partied like it was almost 2011.
The turnout for MOCA‘s (the Museum of Contemporary Art in Los Angeles, that is) annual galas are usually pretty impressive, and this year was no different. The crowd was especially well-dressed for the event, perhaps due in part to the fact that Chanel‘s fine jewelry division sponsored the evening.
Celebrities are pretty much a front row staple at any fashion show, but only the biggest names in fashion can guarantee A-list faces — as opposed those most commonly seen on the CW. Roberto Cavalli is one of those names. Elisabetta Canalis, Heidi Klum, Leona Lewis, Rachel Bilson, and Taylor Swift all turned up and out in Milan to see what Cavalli had in store for his spring collection. But who was best dressed?
Wednesday night in New York City saw a host of events, but a few in particular caught our eye both for their star-studded invite list and the resulting sartorial stylings. From Tara Subkoff’s questionable leather shorts to Shenae Grimes’ absolute trainwreck of an outfit, it was a good night in pictures. Hilary Rhoda and Coco Rocha face-off in fashion wars, Lourdes does the step and repeat in a rocker chic pair of ripped nylons, and Melissa George goes for the double header outfit swap. Enjoy!
If there was an unofficial uniform of music festival season, it would definitely include a pair of denim cut-offs — right along with our trusty knapsack! But, as with many hipster-approved fashion statements, the line between the cool kid brand of ugly and mom jeans ugly is a fine one. Tanks to all the daisy dukes that have been battling it out in the fields at Coachella, we’ve found a few examples to help you avoid a potential cut off catastrophe. Jean-ius, right?
One small sartorial decision for Rachel Bilson, one huge step for The Great Backpack Comeback.
Mischa, Mischa, Mischa. What can we say?
Once upon a time, we’d tune into the O.C. obsessively every week and crave your media mentions so that we could drool over your outfits. Chanel and Chloe were regulars of your wardrobe. You looked impeccable, clean, and put together — even when you were sporting your more casual L.A. look. On and off screen, we wanted to be you. And now there’s this.
