Your mom is a superstar. She was never squeamish when you skinned your knee. She sent you cards to heal a broken heart (or just because). She gave you her secret recipes and secrets to success, and showed you how to be the awesome lady you are. Seems pretty obvious that your mama dearest likes to lend a helping hand, so what better way to show you appreciate all she does, than by giving her a gift that gives back to women around the world?
The fashion set stepped out in style at last night’s Vanity Fair party for the Tribeca Film Festival. Vera Wang, Rachel Roy, Karolina Kurkova, and more were decked out in menswear-inspired ensembles that were actually quite sexy and feminine, while Tory Burch and Tao Okamoto brought a dash of color and prints.
Sure, menswear can be a bit of a yawn, but the power of a well-cut suit truly can’t be understated. Last night’s screening of Olympus Has Fallen in New York City was cold, hard proof of this, as Gerard Butler showed up in an impeccable Z Zegna three-piece wool suit and effectively stole all the attention from the women on the red carpet.
After a slew of brand new outfits, it’s nice to finally see Michelle Obama in a repeat (and equally fab) ensemble. She, along with Dr. Jill Biden, spoke to the National Governors Association this morning. Jill looked great, but obviously, all eyes were on Michelle.
Instead of doing her usual presentation this New York Fashion Week, Rachel Roy is showing her fall 2013 collection digitally. We had the pleasure of chatting with Roy about taking the digital road while she was filming her collection last week, and now we’ve got an exclusive behind-the-scenes look at her opulent wares.
New York Fashion Week is definitely a busy and hectic time for designers, editors, and buyers, but Rachel Roy is trying to make it less so with her first-ever digital show this fall season. Like Peter Som and several others this season, Roy has taken the digital road instead of her traditional presentations. We caught up with the stunning designer at her video shoot in Manhattan’s West Side yesterday (more on that later!) to get all the pros and cons of going digital, her thoughts on dressing Michelle Obama, and what she tries to achieve in life.
Marion Cotillard wasn’t the only one who struck a pose for the flashbulbs last night, even if she was the only one who did so in fresh-off-the-runway Christian Dior.
For spring 2013, Rachel Roy wanted “a whimsical balance created through a mix of enchanted prints and electric color for spring”. The result was silky suits in bright hues and prints, henly shirt-style dresses with accordion pleats, figure-flattering dresses, and leg-lengthening bottoms. We caught up with the designer, who gave us a glimpse into the to-die-for accessories, and revealed how she decompresses after the craziness that is New York Fashion Week.
For a night devoted for fashion, you’ve got to bring your A-game on the red carpet. And at last night’s Style awards, most did just that.
We all know the ins and outs of wardrobe staples — a plain white tee, dark denim, and a timeless LBD come to mind — but the same goes for beauty. We wanted to find out the exact must-have products that our favorite fashion insiders never leave home without: the go-to goodies that instantly put a pep in our most stylish friends’ steps. First up is designer Rachel Roy, who shares her most beloved product for a perfect bold lip.
“I have always been in awe of how Brazilian women dress and carry themselves,” confesses Rachel Roy. So it was only natural that the designer team up with Brazilian musician Seu Jorge for her latest collaborative collection for Macy’s: a line of clothing, shoes, handbags, and jewelry that channels the “unbreakable spirit and tradition of the Brazilian people”.
Fashionable ladies like Rachel Roy, (the other Michelle Williams, Ivanka Trump, and Lauren Bush Lauren attended the Clarins Million Meals Concert to benefit the FEED Foundation in New York last night.
Let’s take a break from the fancy gowns at Cannes to check out the low-key (but equally as great) looks at the Museum of Modern Art‘s Party in the Garden benefit in New York last night.
The, um, girls were out in full force for last night’s premiere of Girls.
Today Rachel Roy showed a fall collection full of chunky knits, rich earth and jewel tones, and killer accessories. We were able to chat with the designer at the packed presentation, and she filled us in on the surprising inspiration and her most embarrassing runway moment.
If your feet are feeling timid and less-than-beautiful right now, you probably shouldn’t buy any of Rachel Roy‘s new shoes. The designer says her new collection is not for the faint of heart.
We all try to do a little good during the holidays but, unfortunately, sometimes even our best intentions backfire. Take Rachel Roy, for instance, who just wanted to give her employees a little freedom on Fridays to wear whatever makes them happy. It turns out that, well… let’s just say they’re an eclectic bunch. One thing that won’t backfire, however, is the $250 giftcard we’re giving away to RachelRoy.com. Details and video, after the jump!
We never turn down an opportunity to chat with official Styleite girl crush Rachel Roy, so we jumped at the chance to catch up with the designer at Bloomingdale’s while celebrating her fall collection. She chatted with us about giving back, empowering girls, and the scheduling drama that’s taking over the fashion world.
Orchestrated chaos seems to be the name of the game during Fashion’s Night Out, and Macy’s was no exception. We stopped by the New York landmark early in the evening to chat with Rachel Roy and Amar’e Stoudemire about their collaboration for RACHEL Rachel Roy amongst a crazy crowd.
