Remembrance Day Page 1
This weekend marked not only one, but two public appearances by Queen Elizabeth. After wearing a trendy sheer coat over a simple cream dress on Saturday, Liz bundled up in a black for a Remembrance Sunday service with the rest of the Royals. Of course, it should also come as no surprise that Kate Middleton wore an ensemble of repeats.
At today’s Remembrance Day ceremony in London, the royals gathered at the Cenotaph war memorial to honor veterans in black coats (adorned with poppy pins) and coordinating hats.
This morning a good friend asked us if we knew why Emma Watson, Daniel Radcliffe and Rupert Grint were all wearing “red apple pins” at the premiere of the new Harry Potter movie, and we couldn’t give them a good answer. But after digging around for a little while we figured out that those apples are actually poppies, and those poppies are worn to commemorate Remembrance Day (or what we here in the States call Veterans Day) in Britain, Canada, Australia and other such places with ties to Queen Elizabeth II.
