The theme this year was American Woman: Fashioning a National Identity and, appropriately, focused on American style through the ages. Apparently short is the new black. Agyness Deyn, Hayden Panettiere, Heidi Klum, and now Renee Zellweger have all forgone their usually longer locks for cropped hairdos — and in Deyn’s case, a Sinead O’Connor-inspired shaved head. So why is everyone cutting off all their hair?
