Riccardo Tisci Casts Transgender Model In Fall Campaign

Stefano Pilati may have designed a unisex line for YSL’s Spring 2009 collection, but Givenchy designer Riccardo Tisci has just upped the ante. Tisci has cast Lea T. — his longtime former assistant as well as fit model for his eponymous line — in his Fall/Winter 2010 ad campaign. The catch: Lea T. was previously known as Leo.

Similar to the famed Von Trapp clan and their curtain couture, we’ve recently seen our beloved designers use heavier fabrics which resemble nothing more than our great-aunt’s upholstery. While being somewhat logical –- thicker fabrics mean more warmth with less layers and higher durability -– we can’t help but ask: is this flattering? Or, more importantly, attractive?
