SAG Awards 2013 Page 1
Jennifer Lawrence talks to Vogue about her much-discussed wardrobe mishap, and how she was just about as surprised as everyone.
Sigourney Weaver landed on plenty of Worst Dressed Lists at this year’s SAG Awards, ours included. Between the black satin fabric, high neckline, and armpit ruffles, the Lanvin dress was a flop. But the sharp eyes over at Red Carpet Fashion Awards noticed that Weaver actually wore the dress backwards. Backwards! But does that change our mind about Weaver being one of the worst dressed stars that night? Eh, not really.
Once upon a time, long before the odds were forever in her favor as Katniss Everdeen, Jennifer Lawrence was cast as “Lisa” in two promos for one of our favorite reality shows back in 2005: MTV‘s “My Super Sweet 16″. This tidbit came to light last night at the SAG Awards during the 22-year-old’s “Best Actress” acceptance speech for Silver Linings Playbook, which she kicked off with a seemingly incongruous thank you to MTV. As it turns out, the role was for what earned her a SAG card at age 14, kicking off what’s turned out to be a very successful career.
Despite all of the cringe-worthy E! red carpet commentary and vacuous introductory voiceover (Jessica Chastain was looking “Zero Dark Flirty”? Really?!), there were actually some slam dunk moments on the Screen Actors Guild Awards red carpet. From Marion Cotillard‘s voluminous Christian Dior couture to Claire Danes‘ unexpected one-shouldered Givenchy, here are our picks for the best of the bunch.
With a two-hour start to finish runtime, the Screen Actors Guild Awards is perhaps the shortest of the season’s shows, but that doesn’t mean it was lacking for sartorial missteps. From Julianne Moore’s ill-fitting Chanel couture creation to Morena Baccarin’s overwrought Basil Soda gown, these celebs fell far short of our expectations for the evening — if we even had any at all.
Trust Jennifer Lawrence to steal the show in the most endearingly goofy way possible. While heading to the stage to accept her award for Best Actress at Sunday night’s Screen Actors Guild Awards, the Silver Linings Star stumbled in her fresh-from-Paris Dior couture dress — and the result left both the audience and fellow Dior fan Marion Cotillard agog.
Ready for another awards season evening of red carpet hits, misses, and everything in between? We sure hope so, because the Screen Actors Guild Awards are here, and the stars have been spending their days primping and prepping for yet another turn in front of the cameras. Who will knock it out of the park? Who will fall flat (hopefully not literally)? We’ll be updating the gallery with every single look as the night goes on.
Stars like Nikki Reed, Sofia Vergara, and Jamie-Lynn Sigler dish on getting through the lengthy red carpet process: what to wear, what to pack, and how to handle it all. And some of their answers may surprise you.
Tune in with us tonight to see the hits and misses in the latest installment of couture’s favorite time of the year: awards show season.
