Back in 2011, when Katy Perry was promoting the original Smurfs movie, she wore a kitschy tube dress emblazoned with Smurfette‘s bedazzled likeness, Smurf-themed talons, and a mop of brassy curls. Today, while on the road for the sequel, she donned the kind of grown up frock Michelle Obama would be proud to wear. Let’s give this girl a round of applause!
Highly anticipated fashion film of the summer* The Smurfs premiered last night in New York City, which is exciting and all, but mainly because it gave Katy Perry the perfect excuse to debut some newly minted strawberry-ish blonde locks, serious Smurf-themed nail art, and a sequin embellished Smurfette dress by The Blonds.
This week there were more fancy weddings than you can shake a fallopian tube inspired hat at. There were also lawsuits, a couple big September issue reveals, and the revelation that one very bold-faced fashion name is the baby daddy of Linda Evangelista’s four-year-old son.
We write a fair amount about the unattainable standards set forth by photoshopped models in fashion magazines, but the August issue of Harper’s Bazaar just brought things to a whole new level of unachievable. Smurfette models goodies from Marc Jacobs, Lanvin, Dolce & Gabbana, and Louis Vuitton in the upcoming issue, and we’re officially smitten.
