Usually when a brand springs for a major face to front their campaign, you expect to see, well, a face. But not so in the first image that’s been released from Alexander Wang’s debut Balenciaga campaign, which features a legendary model clad in black and facing away from the camera, peeking out a barely-cracked door.
W is celebrating their 40th anniversary this year, and to mark the occasion the magazine has recruited four of fashion’s favorite Hollywood faces to cover the November issue, one for each decade they’ve been churning out the glossy.
Not all at once, thankfully.
As you might expect, the brand new Steven Klein-directed videos for Lady Gaga new fragrance Fame are anything but your run-of-the-mill, “pretty girl in a field of flowers”-type advertisements. But then, this isn’t your average fragrance.
We’d normally argue that French Vogue can do no wrong, but Carine Roitfeld‘s unadulterated love for skeezeball extraordinaire Terry Richardson is starting to grate on us. Though we’ve been eagerly awaiting details from the glossy’s September issue — which features an envy-inducingly gorgeous Marion Cotillard on the cover — we were a little disappointed in Corps d’Elite, one of the issue’s fashion editorials featuring Natasha Poly and shot by Richardson. Does anyone else think it looks really familiar?
Along with the rest of the fashion world, my heart was broken over the loss of our extraordinary Alexander McQueen. As an artist who always pushed the boundaries and drew outside of the lines, his vision was and will continue to be a reminder for us to all think big. This grandiose perspective that won McQueen widespread reverence is captured flawlessly in a tome that is quite exceptional in itself—Visionaire’s 58 Spirit.
We brought you the video and the details from Gaga’s stylist, Nicola Formichetti, and now, we bring you some insight into Alejandro from the man who would know best — aside from Gaga herself — the video’s director, Steven Klein.
It’s finally here! What you’ve been waiting for since Telephone and Bad Romance. We’re pleased to bring you another fabulously fashionable Lady Gaga music video — one we’re sure we’ll add on to our list of Most Fashionable Music Videos. We brought you the leaked photos, and now…
Last night on Larry King Live, Lady Gaga debuted a teaser for the Steven Klein-directed video for her latest single, “Alejandro.” (Which, if you need a refresher, is the one that reminds us of Madonna’s “La Isla Bonita.”)
A photo leaked today of Lady Gaga’s upcoming video for her latest single “Alejandro” — which, if you need a refresher, is the one that isn’t very good and reminds us of Madonna’s “La Isla Bonita.” Anyway! When we first reported that fashion photog extraordinaire Steven Klein would be shooting the vid, we joked that he might use the shoot as a chance to build on some of his previous work. What we didn’t expect was for him to, well, literally do just that.
The murder. The masturbation. The make-us-want-to-die fashion. Yes, we’re still very much hung up on Lady Gaga’s “Telephone.” But Gaga isn’t one to rest on her laurels, and we hear she’s already hard at work on a follow-up.
