Back in the day — 2008 to be exact — there was a quirky young girl who lived in Illinois and took photos of herself, most often outside of what readers assumed was her home, wearing what were considered pretty outlandish outfits for an 11 year old. She put those photos, along with her other musings, on a blog. Now, Tavi and her style are all grown up (well, almost).
Today Scott Schuman gave an interview that blew our minds in a really horrible way, and proved that the man behind The Sartorialist is cripplingly out of touch.
Less than eight months after Tavi Gevinson announced that she’d be partnering with Jane founder Jane Pratt on a teen-focused web and print publication, the 15-year-old phenom has decided to strike out on her own.
If, sometime around Monday afternoon, you just so happened to have dropped by fourteen-year-old style blogger Tavi Gevinson’s blog, The Style Rookie, you probably ran smack dab into the following automated and somewhat terrifying message: This blog is under review due to possible Blogger Terms of Service violations and is open to authors only. Almost instantaneously, a twitter campaign launched, urging people to help Free Tavi. The site is back up now, but what was Tavi’s crime?
Wednesday marked the 2nd anniversary of Tavi Gevinson’s blog StyleRookie. Since then, Tavi has taken the Internet and the fashion industry by storm, earning her front row tickets to Chanel’s Paris Couture Show and friends like Kate and Laura Mulleavy.
