Summer Olympics 2012 Page 1
Shiny happy (royal) people laughing.
26 sports, 39 disciplines, and 302 events. That’s right, folks: the 2012 Summer Olympics are here! Here’s what to expect.
Call Ryan Lochte maybe?
There was (is?) a big fuss over Ralph Lauren making the U.S. Olympic team‘s gear in China, but at least he didn’t do anything illegal when he outsourced labor overseas. What the Egyptian Olympic committee is doing, however, is very illegal: they’re dressing their athletes in counterfeit Nike gear.
In case you had any lingering doubts that France and Italy are the chicest countries of them all, let us take this opportunity to put them to rest.
After quite the uproar over the revelation that Ralph Lauren is manufacturing the 2012 U.S. Olympic team’s uniforms in China, the brand has released a double whammy statement not only announcing that it is the “Official Outfitter” of the 2014 Winter Olympic and Paralympic teams, but also promising that the uniforms will be 100% manufactured in the good ole’ U.S. of A.
Yesterday, Ralph Lauren revealed the US Olympic Team‘s uniforms for the Opening Ceremony, and we totally thought the accessories made the ensembles looked a lot like naval garb. Especially those berets! But the team over on Fox & Friends seriously didn’t like the Parisian accessory, and took to the airwaves to voice their thoughts.
Looks like even Anna Wintour isn’t immune to Olympics fever! The first image of Vogue’s June 2012 issue has just leaked, and the cover stars are none other than Team USA stars Hope Solo, Ryan Lochte, and Serena Williams.
Congratulations are in order for Issey Miyake and his design team as they nabbed the Fashion Award at the Design Awards Tuesday night in London.
