Supermodels Page 1
The original supers like Naomi Campbell, Kate Moss, and Stephanie Seymour still land magazine covers, editorials, and ad campaigns here and there, but they have had to share the spotlight with younger models, celebs, actresses, and sadly, reality stars. Well, Campbell is not going to stand for that, and in an interview with Celebuzz, says that models like her want to take back the mag covers for good.
Once a supermodel, always a supermodel!
We’re not sure exactly what to expect from this video, but we are sure that we can’t wait to see these two awesome Brits in one frame together.
Not many people can steal the hype away a very pregnant, very naked Jessica Simpson on the cover of April’s issue of Elle. But Heidi Klum may have done it, as the newly single supermodel’s alternate cover broke out over the internet today. The sexy mother of four has been tight-lipped up to this point on the subject of her split from Seal, but to Elle she finally sheds some light, albeit in her own way.
Stop the presses (servers?) — Karlie Kloss has joined Tumblr! In honor of this momentous occasion, allow us to introduce you to some other newish Tumblrs you need to follow.
Duran Duran’s much anticipated and highly teased video for their latest single, “Girl Panic” is finally here and, as promised, it stars a quintet of ’90s supermodels: Cindy Crawford, Eva Herzigova, Helena Christensen, Naomi Campbell, and Yasmin Le Bon (who is, it should be noted, married to frontman Simon). In a cute twist, the supers all play members of the band, with Campbell as Le Bon and Christensen stealing the show as hard-partying drummer Roger Taylor.
Because you haven’t heard enough about what it’s like for supermodel, author, businesswoman and “producer” Tyra Banks to matriculate at Harvard Business School, well, here’s an interview in which Banks talks about matriculating at Harvard Business School.
What do you do at Fashion Week after a long career of being a model? You sit and watch models brush past you on the runway, of course! And that’s exactly what former model and current Real Housewife of New York Kelly Bensimon did Friday at the Luca Luca spring show.
We’ve heard of quirky media practices, but we’ve never actually encountered anything quite so peculiar as the way model Arizona Muse interacts with reporters. Last night at David Yurman, we found ourselves on the receiving end of the way Muse controls her image. Other journalists, bloggers and reporters, take heed: You’re gonna have to be prepared.
Yoko Ono toldPage Six that Warhol once told her that she was dressing a little too plainly and needed to show a flourish here or there. And by here or there, we mean on top of her head.
After 13 years of gliding down the runway in nothing but a dramatic pair of wings and some overstyled underwear, Heidi Klum has decided to stop being a Victoria’s Secret Angel.
It’s hard not to wish good things for Natalia Vodianova, and they just keep coming to her in droves. The model and mother of three had a whirlwind summer, landing a Peter Lindbergh spread in American Vogue, covering Russian and Korean Vogue, and starring in a roundly lauded ad campaign for Louis Vuitton. What better way to put absurdly delicious icing on the cake that is Vodianova’s life than by starring in a second feature film?
We’ll admit, even with the fact that Cindy Crawford is 44 with two children, we’re still no match for her – I mean, did you see her March spread for UK Harper Bazaar? Cased closed. But the “multi-million-dollar body,” as dubbed by The Fashion Book, is not a title that’s easy to maintain. In a vanity-obsessed with beating the clock, not pondering the thought of going under the needle or the knife is tough. According to Crawford, who once went through the very phase, succumbing to cosmetic procedures is okay – just don’t change your face.
Naomi Campbell may be nearing the center of a high-profile blood diamond case, but that’s no reason for her not to celebrate her birthday in style. The model, who just turned 40, was treated by her billionaire boyfriend Vladimir Doronin to a tiger-themed, million dollar birthday party in the French Riviera.
As glossies go, Tush Magazine is generally known for being ahead of the curve. And their latest issue is no exception — not only does the fold include snaps of model du jour Crystal Renn, but also a super-spread featuring transsexual icon, Amanda Lepore.
Now, don’t get us wrong — it’s painfully obvious that Crystal Renn, Alessandra Ambrosio and Brooklyn Decker all look super striking posing for the June issue of Glamour. More, we’ve got to applaud the trio of babes for having the guts to sport bikinis with gusto (never an easy task, right?) and the forward-thinking mag for representing different body types on their cover. But based on these behind the scenes candids from the on location shoot, it looks as if the art director took some liberties with his retouching.
You know those JC Penney commercials where Cindy Crawford is prancing around her house with her two adorable kids trying to sell her home decor line, Cindy Crawford Style? This month’s Harper’s Bazaar UK is a wake-up call for anyone who thought Crawford’s high-fashion days were done.
Supermodel Christie Brinkley has auctioned off her Armani wedding dress which she wore for her 1996 wedding to businessman Peter Cook. The couple split after Brinkley claimed Cook was addicted to porn and had an affair with his underage assistant in 2004.
Drugs, alcohol, a guy named Pete…Kate Moss has never been one to hide her vices. And apparently the 30-something model has a new one: Chatroulette.
Once upon a time, the cover ladies of fashion’s most important and influential magazines were referred to as Supermodels. But with the advent of tabloids and the obsession with celebrity culture, fashion magazines steered away from model-covers and opted for actresses, musicians, and socialites instead. And then Kate Moss graced the cover of W’s September Issue, Linda Evangelista the cover of November, and now this month’s Vogue features a decidedly 90s-inspired Gisele Bundchen.
