Tavi Gevinson Page 1
Back in the day — 2008 to be exact — there was a quirky young girl who lived in Illinois and took photos of herself, most often outside of what readers assumed was her home, wearing what were considered pretty outlandish outfits for an 11 year old. She put those photos, along with her other musings, on a blog. Now, Tavi and her style are all grown up (well, almost).
Tavi Gevinson turned 17 on April 21, but celebrated last night by hosting a film screening at a modern art museum, being treated to a custom cake, and then hitting the club. Yep, we did say 17.
The last time Tavi Gevinson appeared on Late Night with Jimmy Fallon things were decidedly bitchy. But last night passion, which just so happens to be Rookie’s February theme, the pair bonded over their mutual love for Stevie Nicks. One thing they didn’t agree on? Tavi’s decision to take a year off before college.
Last night, Tavi Gevinson made history as Stephen Colbert‘s youngest-ever guest on “The Colbert Report”, which, needless to say, just about made our week.
We’ve seen a trailer for Jonah D. Ansell‘s animated short, Cadaver, featuring none other than the voice of Tavi Gevinson, and we’ve been serenaded by the blogger herself with a version of Neil Young’s classic, “Heart of Gold”, which also appears in the short. Well, now we’ve got the full film, and yes, it is awesome.
“Tavi Gevinson may take over the world while you read this,” proclaims CNN‘s profile of the media wunderkind, blogging sensation, and teen-geared online magazine Rookie. Not to brag or anything, but we saw that one coming a long time ago. Tavi, of course, insists that, far from plotting world domination, she’s currently just busy watching Nickelodeon movies.
Hats off to this year’s honorees on Forbes‘ 30 Under 30 list! Every year, the magazine rounds up the brightest stars in fields like media, technology, and finance, and 2012′s selection boasts some very deserving names.
Tavi Gevinson may be a total star now, but remember when she pissed off a bunch of major fashion editors at Paris Fashion Week with her incredibly large Stephen Jones bow? Well, she still does, and she thinks it was awesome.
If you needed any more proof that Tavi Gevinson is one cool teen, just watch her recent interview on Access Hollywood.
We’re pretty convinced that there isn’t a thing in this world that Tavi Gevinson can’t do. She’s a huge feminist, is a cover girl, and has even dabbled in voice acting — plus, she founded Rookie at the tender age of 15. We found out over the summer that she would be adding ‘actress’ to her lengthy resume, and now she’s opened up about her role in an interview! Read on, die-hard Tavi fans!
Back in February, we were totally charmed and enthralled by the short animated film Cadaver voiced by Tavi Gevinson, Kathy Bates, and Christopher Lloyd. And that’s why we are so excited to hear that it’s been longlisted for an Oscar.
Okay, this is admittedly a bit of a fangirl post, but Tavi Gevinson (our and Leandra Medine‘s favorite person on the internet) and her stylish crew just threw a massive bash at the super-trendy Ace Hotel in NYC to celebrate the one-year anniversary of Rookie Magazine. And we totally wish we had been there.
Despite Jimmy’s protestations to the contrary, it turns out he really is a teenage girl.
If you feel like you haven’t been getting enough Tavi Gevinson lately, despite her four-year-old blog, online teen mecca Rookie, imminent print mag Yearbook, recent newsstand covers, and major New York Times profile, well you’re in luck (you crazy fangirl, you)! The enterprising sixteen-year-old will soon be hitting the big screen.
16-year-old Tavi Gevinson just wrapped a 16-city tour across America to promote Rookie and, well, just hang out with fans.
Have we said enough times how much we adore Tavi Gevinson? Because we literally squealed with joy when we saw this — the teen editor-in-chief has landed the August cover of Bust magazine.
On Tuesday night, Leandra Medine aka the Man Repeller proudly showed off the window that she designed for Soho’s Parisian resident Maje. We stopped by Maje for a peek as Medine, who got married last month) told us all about her window display, spilled the deets about her blog expansion, and gushed about her big ol’ girl crush on Tavi Gevinson. (Don’t we all have one?)
Our beloved Tavi Gevinson might finally be dealing with her first copycat, and the culprit, she thinks, is none other than Seventeen magazine.
