Instagram: Depending on your curation skills, it can be a stream of anything from duckfaces shrouded in a Valencia haze to editorial-level outfit inspiration. We like our feeds to zigzag through both, offering insight and artistry edged with #selfies and LOLs. Click through to see the ‘grams we were loving this week, including Alessandra Ambrosio’s Greek Island kaftan extravaganza, Eva Chen’s style throwback and Beyoncé’s trippy woven brights.
There’s only one problem with Leandra Medine’s tweets and blog posts: They aren’t long enough. That’s a difficult thing to make people feel in a world where reading anything over 140 characters sometimes seems exhausting, but her confident self-deprecation and natural hilariousness are responsible for many embarrassing public laughing attacks and one instance of almost spitting coffee on a stranger. So we’re obviously pretty excited about the blogger’s upcoming book, Searching For Love, Finding Overalls, which WWD reports as being slated for release September 10.
The Rat in the Hat is an illustrated tale for new New Yorkers all about the trials and tribulations this city dishes up its denizens. All told, of course, in rhyming couplets. We’re printing and binding a copy as we type.
Fans of Leandra Medine, rejoice! The blogger’s book of essays, “Man Repeller: Seeking Love. Finding Overalls.” is now available for pre-order, which means you can peruse the blurb, read the words of praise it’s earned from industry bigwigs like Simon Doonan and Joan Rivers, and, perhaps best of all, get a look at the cover, upon which Medine wears (surprise!) a pair of dark denim dungarees.
Ari Seth Cohen has teamed up with Coach on a series of videos with some of his favorite Advanced Style ladies, and top bloggers. While Susie Lau and Nadia Sarwar‘s videos are cute, our favorite is probably Leandra Medine‘s because her interaction with Lynn Dell is basically like a kid playing dress-up with her grandmother.
Rebecca Minkoff gives us a peek of her Spring 2013 jewelry collection in a YouTube video with pal Leandra Medine, featuring the familiar blogger jiving to the sounds of Black Light Dinner Party, decked out in loads of shiny baubles that we can add to our wish lists. Minkoff launched her first jewelry collection this [...]
Leandra Medine, a.k.a The Man Repeller, got married back in June, and while we had all the deets on her big day, we were left wondering about her man. Of course, Medine’s family and friends know who Mr. Man Repeller is, but for the rest of the world, he’s a mystery. Thankfully, Town & Country solves that problem with a feature on the pair in its November issue. So, who’s the lucky guy?
Kimberly Ovitz‘s spring 2013 show at Hudson River Park’s Runway at Pier 57 yesterday afternoon was every bit about the clothes as it was the lack of shoes on the models. You see, the girls were barefoot and walked on a clay runway, as opposed to a traditional über shiny one.
Personal style bloggers are a dime a dozen these days — which isn’t at all a bad thing! — but sometimes the same old gets a little, well, old. And that’s why bloggers like Leandra Medine, aka The Man Repeller, are so refreshing. We love her style, but more importantly, we love how effing funny she is! And we’re not alone. Mid-way through interviewing her front row at Nicole Miller yesterday, Joe Zee came bounding up to profess his (and his assistant’s) love.
It was only a matter of time before Leandra Medine (aka the Man Repeller) tried her hand at designing, and we’re stoked that her first collection is a jewelry one.
