Spring may have sprung, but Tibi’s spring collection has us passing up the floral frocks for menswear-inspired tailoring.
Yesterday we stopped by the eBay Holiday Collective showroom to see the designer collections and chat with Amy Smilovic, designer and founder of It-girl favorite Tibi.
Love her or hate her, Olivia Palermo has dazzling taste. So when we saw the former reality television star turned stylist turned model turned brand consultant turned fashion world fixture sitting front row at the Tibi show on Saturday, we felt the burning desire to pick her brain about how fashion week is treating her so far.
New York Fashion Week is finally over! It was exciting, beautiful, disorganized, fun and most of all exhausting. And we loved every second of it.
With a mix of neutrals and brights, the spring/summer 2011 collection from Tibi comes off as refreshing and oh-so-spring appropriate. Texture was the name of the game as designer Amy Smilovic infused her pieces with crochet, tweed, basketweave, pleating and lasercut fabrics.
File this one under news that wouldn’t make any sense 10 years ago, but word is that Tibi is on the hunt for some shiny new friends. Virtually speaking of course — who has real friends anymore, right? But the fashion pack is nothing if not competitive, and with rivals Tory Burch, Diane von Furstenberg, and Nanette Lepore, boasting 45,017, 47,583 and 5,042 fans, respectively, well Tibi feels sort of unpopular.
