Arbiter of movements in complicated nail art and Manic Pixie Dream Girl hairstyles, Tumblr, has released its annual list of the most reblogged fashion trends of 2013.
This morning we stumbled, nay, Tumbl’d upon Shit Bloggers Wear, a blog devoted to illustrations of the trend du jour merchandise that catches a wave and starts being snapped in selfies on every fashion blog all at once. You know, the 3.1 Phillip Lim ‘I Love Nueva York’ tank (guilty blogger here) or, more generally speaking, culottes.
Only the very best for the CR Fashion Book crew.
Tumblr is implementing a new policy that will do away with thinspiration and cutting blogs.
Stop the presses (servers?) — Karlie Kloss has joined Tumblr! In honor of this momentous occasion, allow us to introduce you to some other newish Tumblrs you need to follow.
Looking for a good way to while away your afternoon? Look now further than the new Tumblr in town: Fashimals.
There’s no shortage of people who love fashion on Tumblr, and because of that fashion brands have been a lot quicker to hop on that bandwagon than they were with other social networking tools. But some people who work in fashion are mad as hell that the blogging platform hasn’t created a way to measure how much of an impact they’re having on their customers. Case in point: Julie Friedrickson, the Digital and Social Media manager at Ann Taylor, the first fashion company ever to start a Tumblr.
Last year Tumblr made waves by inviting a cabal of fashion obsessed bloggers to New York Fashion Week, and this year they’re getting ready to do it all over again. Rich Tong, the social media platform’s fashion director, has unveiled the list of Tumblr users he’s sponsoring for the Spring 2012 shows.
Admittedly, Fuck Yeah Menswear is something we don’t always get. It’s insidery to the max, though we do enjoy a good fashion verse like “OD at CO-OP. IRL at Neimans.” Alas, said successful Tumblr now has a book deal.
There’s a new Tumblr in town, peeps, and this one is a keeper. Suri’s Burn Book chronicles the innermost mean girl thoughts of Hollywood’s most fashionable (and apparently judgmental) progeny. Shiloh Jolie-Pitt, Cruz Beckham, and Violet Afflect all fall victim to her sharp-tipped typing, but not even her own mother is immune. A few of our favorite lines, after the jump.
It’s prom season. A special time, a time of growing up and moving on, of memories and bidding farewell, and of catty contests in which certain people are singled out as superior to others based on nothing other than popularity. As such and in honor of such a, well, time honored tradition, Styleite has teamed up with Tumblr, Tiza, and Small Girls PR to throw its own prom — a fashion prom, if you will, and for a good cause, too.
The fashion industry has been pretty slow on the uptake when it comes to social media — after all, we’re still trying to figure out how to get people to buy things via Twitter on a mass scale. But brands like Kate Spade and Ann Taylor have been flocking to that site in droves — and it’s expected that they’ll continue doing so for months.
As fashion bloggers, we tend to brake for other fashion bloggers, especially because we know how hard it can be to 1) get started, 2) build an audience 3) make people think and 4) cover fashion week, a task to which we could devote entire terrabytes of information. But this morning’s news that Tumblr, the photocentric blogging platform beloved by people everywhere, is sending 20 fashion bloggers to New York Fashion Week has us scratching our heads. Also puzzling: to manage it all, the company has recently hired a fashion director.
We happen to think Tumblr is pretty great. (Relatedly, have you seen the Mediaite Tumblr? It’s rad.) The platform (and community) remains one of the best on the web, and now the first Tumblr store has opened. Yes, a store on Tumblr! And a really cool store, at that. Behold: Of a Kind.
Is it a little silly for guys to be obsessed with fashion? Yes, as a matter of fact, it is. It would seem, though, that the anonymous blogger behind the brand new and wildly popular tumblr F*ck Yeah Menswear wants to love his love of fashion and make fun of it at the same time. But you can only mock someone’s steez (or lack thereof) so many times before it wears off.
Vogue magazine, that bastion of old media refinement and superiority, now has a Tumblr. It started yesterday, there are four posts on it, and all of them redirect to Vogue.com. And if the magazine uses Tumblr simply to post links, well, that’s a really foolish call on its part.
Well, it looks like we’ve found our new favorite Tumblr. The Internet Never Forgets documents the early career bloopers of some of our favorite actors, courtesy of Robin Sparkles. As per the blog’s description: “This is an appreciation blog exclusively for embarrassing modeling pictures of actors from those misguided years of their youth. Owned and operated by Robin Sparkles, who knows all about embarrassing teenage memories.”
