While celebrities who act are busy prepping for the upcoming SAG awards, celebrities who wear pretty clothes were in Paris at this year’s Sidaction Gala dinner. So, who looked best?
Selita Ebanks’ recent appearance as a blond left us thinking of our favorite model hair change-ups. Here’s a look at some of those models who have dyed for fashion.
During a particularly long day of work, it’s not uncommon to find us staring off into space, dreaming of a world in which we live Vanessa Paradis‘ life. Which is to say: we’re married to Johnny Depp and spend our downtime being Karl Lagerfeld‘s muse. Because really, what a dream. So when our friends over at Chanel sent us photos of Sunday night’s fete in honor of the brand’s upcoming resort show, we were excited, envious, and daydreamy, all at once. Take a look with us.
Johnny Depp has officially set the awesome present bar really high. According to an interview in Marie Claire UK’s August issue, the star gifted his longtime partner, Vanessa Paradis, a pair of Marilyn Monroe’s shoes.
Like most Americans we long ago came to terms with the fact that no matter how many trips to Paris or how many hours we spent listening to Muzzy on tape, we would never be authentically French. Translation: Never that innate breed of chic that can only come from bathing in the Seine. Alas, leave it to Vanessa Paradis, poster girl for all things Chanel clad, gap-toothed and muse-worthy to make us feel better about our life on this side of the pond.
Vanessa Paradis may seem like the perfect face for Karl Lagerfeld’s Chanel ads, but once upon a time, Lily Allen was the designer’s shining star. According to Contact Music, a source close to the designer claims that the Karl didn’t simply find a new muse, but that Allen was dropped from the ad campaign because of her hardcore party girl image.
In an upcoming issue of Madame Figaro, Karl Lagerfeld shot Vanessa Paradis in a Warhol Factory-inspired photospread, styled by Leila Smara. The stripes, the eyelashes, the beautiful helplessness, all of which identified Edie Sedgwick are present in the photos of Paradis. And Andy’s work — most notably his obsession with televisions, is prevalent throughout the twelve-page editorial..
I don’t know what you’ve been doing all day, but I’ve been refreshing two things: Derek Blasberg’s Twitter feed and our Getty Image search for “Chanel Cruise Collection Presentation.” And while the photos are a little slow to load, Blasberg has been tweeting it up so much we almost feel like we’re there. (Except we’re not. We’re at a desk in a building in SoHo and he’s in St. Tropez watching models arrive on motorcycles, but more on that later.) So, while we wait for the photos, what has Blasberg’s dizzy tweeting taught us?
Karl Lagerfeld is nothing if not a genius at generating buzz and — with his models set to storm the runways of St. Tropez in a matter of hours — the rumors certainly are swirling. Unfortunately, we can’t confirm or deny any of it, because sadly — very, very sadly — our invitation to frolic with the Kaiser in the south of France seems to have gotten lost in the mail. Oh, what we would all give to be lounging on a monogrammed Chanel towel, drinking champagne beach side. Instead we’re stuck here in New York, left to live vicariously through photo-blogger Garance Dore’s insanely enviable snaps from last night’s pre-party.
It seems like Karl Lagerfeld may have a crush on Vanessa Paradis. She is not only the current the face of Coco Rouge lipstick, but has now replaced Lily Allen in this season’s Coco Cocoon ads.
