We must get sent a new “fashion film” every week from every brand under the sun, and while some of them are cool and some of them are crazy, very few of them are actually funny and not a single one of them ever acknowledges that, at the end of the day, it’s just a commercial. Enter this send up of every fashion film you’ve seen before, courtesy of Vena Cava’s new line, Viva Vena, and starring Bachelorette’s Lizzy Caplan.
If this trailer is any indication, that is.
In November, Vena Cava was reportedly in serious financial trouble and it looked like founders Lisa Mayock and Sophie Buhai would have to shutter the 8-year-old company. Now the duo has confirmed a deal with Li & Fung subsidiary LF USA that would keep Vena Cava afloat.
WWD reports that a financing deal broke down earlier this month, leaving the 8-year-old company seriously strapped for cash.
Vena Cava knows cool. A little bit boho, a little bit artsy — each season leaves us lusting for more. While we are excited for fall to kick into high gear (sweaters!), Vena Cava’s spring/summer 2011 collection has us daydreaming about flirty skirts and gauzy fabrics.
