If you didn’t know, now you do–the White House Correspondents’ Dinner is all the rage among political personalities, journalists, and celebrities. This year, the dinner-turned-charity gala, hosted by Conan O’Brien, is expected to see the likes of Connie Britton, Elizabeth Banks (pictured and looking gorgeous as ever), Hayden Panettiere, Nicole Kidman, and Sofia Vergara, to name a few.
Hollywood got political last night at the 2012 White House Correspondents’ Dinner in Washington, DC. We’ve cast our ballots for best and worst dressed of the evening – how about you?
Rachel Roy found herself sitting in the same room as the president, first lady and scores of important Washington people on the night of the White House Correspondent’s Dinner. We emailed with Roy after the dinner to get her take on dressing for the event, what she thinks of the first lady and what the president can do for the fashion industry.
Last night was the annual White House Correspondents’ Association dinner, a gala event that’s been getting more and more fashionable over the last few years — and we thank Michelle Obama for that. And maybe it’s because we gorged ourselves on beauty during the Royal Wedding, but we weren’t all that impressed with what we saw on the red carpet at this year’s event.
In the grand scheme of fashion events, the annual White House Correspondents’ Dinner doesn’t usually rank very high. There’s a red carpet and some lovely dresses and everything, but other than what First Lady Michelle Obama is wearing, there usually isn’t a style story there. But that’s going to change this year, when some pretty big fashion names will take seats next to some of the most notable names in journalism.
Saturday night’s annual White House Correspondents’ Dinner was a relatively star-studded event — this is D.C. we’re talking about, here — and it’s always fun to parse the sartorial stylings of a red carpet event in our nation’s capital. Unsurprisingly, the guests played it fairly safe, if certainly colorful. And in case you were wondering, yes, Michelle Obama looked stunning.
