Yesterday, 88-year-old designer Pierre Cardin showed over 200 looks in his spring summer 2011 runway presentation in Paris. And you thought the TPS report you handed in an hour early was impressive.
Other than audio clips and a few tweets, we had no idea what was going on at Tom Ford women’s show on Sunday. But thanks to a few intrepid, rule-bending photographers (Cathy Horyn included) we have photos!
Peter Som has been showing a mix bold patterns and bright color for the last three seasons, so it’s comes as no surprise that now the practice is experiencing a moment, Som still does it best. His collection for Spring Summer 2011 is a very girly, very short and very colorful answer to the muted minimalism we’ve seen from Richard Chai, Rachel Comey and BCBG.
Back in the day, and by “day” we mean a good 50 years ago, it was popular for women to shop from the comfort of their own homes. When it was de riguer to have a Sears catalog waiting close at hand on the coffee table, magazines jumped to fill their blank spaces with ads, like the ones we discovered while flipping through a January 1956 issue of Cosmopolitan.
Last summer, in attempt to create the clothing he was never able to find himself, Oasis frontman Liam Gallagher launched his men’s line, Pretty Green. In response to what Gallagher claims is a strong demand, he has decided to launch Pretty Green’s women’s line.
