Worst Dressed Page 1
LAAA LAAA Laaaa. Know that sound? That’s the sound of the Tony Awards, taking place tonight at Radio City Music Hall. And while this talk of musicals is great and all, we really want to talk about what people are wearing. Because let’s be real. These people are AC-TOHRS and they know how to bring the drama. We combed the Tony’s past to pick out some boldest, most intense styles.
It wouldn’t be a proper awards show roundup without the worst dressed yin to the best dressed yang. And although there weren’t too many glaringly offensive fashion foul-ups, there were a few looks that left us scratching our head more than Fantine did after her haircut.
For better or for worse, the red carpet at the Oscars is undoubtedly the most buzzed about of the year. It’s the last and biggest awards show of the season, so the stars are pretty much required to bring out their A-game. Unfortunately, that doesn’t always work out, and so without further ado, we bring you the worst Oscar looks of all time.
We know, we know — Elle Fanning landing on a Worst Dressed list sounds nearly impossible, but her
tablecloth Chanel dress really missed the mark tonight at the Critics’ Choice Awards. Unfortunately, she’s not alone. Let’s break down some of the looks.
Let’s be honest: this year’s People’s Choice Awards wasn’t exactly the pinnacle of high fashion. Yes, T. Swift was a total knockout, but browsing through our whole gallery? Womp, womp. Wherefore art thou, stylists?
‘Tis the season for worst dressed roundups (and, of course, for least dressed roundups), and it seems like the same names, faces, and truly terrible gowns keep popping up wherever we look.
From Heidi Klum‘s double thigh-high split to Glenn Close’s altogether too busy bodice, the misfires on tonight’s red carpet were plenty.
Who won and who lost at tonight’s CFDA Awards is just as important as who won and who lost on tonight’s CFDA Awards red carpet.
The SAG Awards red carpet was a total disaster — the looks were bad, boring or both.
Let’s be clear: this isn’t a worst dressed list. It’s a list that falls somewhere between What Were They Thinking When They Put That On? and That Dress Was Perfect Until…. Jennifer Lawrence, for example, can be found under the former, while Miley Cyrus, whose deep-v, off-white cocktail number features neon side panels and a mesh, mulleted skirt, is most definitely the latter.
Kate Hudson got a little nostalgic at Monday night’s British Fashion Awards, reminiscing about her 2001 Academy Awards appearance in a silver Stella McCartney dress that landed her on almost every Worst Dressed list on the planet.
For a red carpet that we would characterize as fairly vanilla, there were still some looks from last night’s Emmy Awards that we found sartorially offensive.
The MTV Video Music Awards are always an excuse for celebs to let a little loose, literally and sartorially. But while some stars definitely went for wacky looks, others played it super safe.
The superiority complex-addled staff of GQ hopped back on its high horse this week to create a list of the worst-dressed executives in Silicon Valley. And I Can Haz Cheezburger CEO Ben Huh, who was placed at number 10 on the list for wearing too many cat-themed t-shirts, has already picked up the gantlet and challenged GQ to a fashion battle. It’s on!
As a general rule, we admire the work that comes from the people at GQ. But then they go and do things like publish a list of what they think are the 40 worst-dressed cities in America, and we have no choice but to step back and say to ourselves, “Dudes. Harsh.”
Not everyone can be the best dressed — otherwise we’d have a really messed up concept of “best” wouldn’t we? But it still makes us pretty sad to see that the women who were worst dressed on The Golden Globe’s red carpet last night are normally on our best dressed lists. But there are certain crimes that we cannot forgive, like wearing the wrong dress for the occasion, or simply not living up to one’s own superstar potential. We’ve simply come to expect more from the ladies on this list. And last night, none of them delivered.
Nothing makes us happier than seeing a group of famous, beautiful people looking fabulous. But we can’t lie: we get a secret pleasure from seeing them look awful, too! And at the Emmy Awards last night, there was no shortage of awful looking ensembles. From dresses that were way too short and tight to printed fabrics that looked like something you could only see in a kaleidoscope, this year’s worst-dress list looks as bad as the best-dressed list looks good.
We appreciate the art of athletics just as much as our friends over at Sportsgrid. [Ed Note: Did you see our World Cup coverage?] But just in case we ever forget how much we love a good game, there’s are always the ESPY awards to provide us with a solid red carpet competition.
It’s difficult to imagine MTV had anything going on last night aside from The Hills series finale, The City season finale, and The Hills After Show party. But in true MTV party spirit, the network was also hosting the Jersey Shore Soundtrack release party. The entire cast showed up to celebrate their favorite fist pumping tunes, and while some may have been blinded by The Situation’s abs, we were too distracted at the poorly dressed, overly orange female cast members to really notice anything else.
