In Which We Bid A Very Fashionable Au Revoir

I had the pleasure of working with the larger Styleite family before Styleite was even a concept. When Mediaite launched, I was the office manager and assistant to our founder, Dan Abrams, and while style doesn’t exactly fall under our flagship’s purview, I did manage to convince them to let me squeeze in a few more sartorially-focused posts — for my love of fashion, and for my love of writing.

As far back as I can remember, I have always digested every piece of fashion-related knowledge I could get my hands on: histories of brands, stories of personalities, videos of fashion shows. Running my hands across the racks at my favorite stores was simply not enough. I needed to know who made them, what inspired them, and what came before them.

The idea to launch Styleite came from what we found lacking in the online fashion world. And from day one of discussions, the entire team here has strived to make sure we were creating something unique, and most importantly, something that spoke to us personally.

Verena, our editor in chief, wrote on our very first day, that

Styleite is a fashion and beauty site for anyone who is exactly or, more importantly, not at all like us. Which is to say: it’s a site for everyone.

And I fully believe we have succeeded in doing just that. Just shy of six months old, we have grown so much, and I can’t wait to see where the future will take the site.

I’m sad to announce that today will be my last day as senior editor of Styleite. I am excited to tell you that I will be headed to Club Monaco‘s marketing department — a brand I have always loved.

I am so very proud to have been a member of the Styleite team, and feel so honored to have been a part of the growth of what, to me, is the best fashion site out there. Being able to wake up every day and write about everything from Vivienne Westwood’s shoe exhibition, to Lea T‘s boundary-pushing spread in Vogue Paris, to fake eyelashes made out of dead flies has been the best experience of my life.

And while I have your attention, I’d like to extend a very warm welcome to what is already a very familiar voice around these parts. Intern Extraordinaire-turned-Associate-Editor Justin Fenner will be joining the site full-time next week. From tirelessly standing on Anna Wintour’s doorstep to his thoughtful breakdown of Essence’s decision to hire a white fashion director, Justin has been an integral part of the Styleite team. Treat him well.

I want to thank all of you — those who have followed Styleite since our first day back in March, and those who are new to the site. Thank you for commentating, for reading, for tweeting and retweeting, and for helping us make the site what it is. Most importantly, thank you for giving me an outlet to write about the things I care so much about, and for caring as well. I speak for the entire staff when I say we could not do it without you.

Fashionably Yours,

Ruthie
