The Week In Review: July 12 to 16
On Monday we looked into the future to see who would cover our favorite fashion magazines in September, pored over pictures of our favorite designers and their adorable dogs, and looked at some great examples of fashion imitating art.
Tuesday marked the 100th birthday of one of our favorite publications, WWD. It also marked the beginning of a new summer trend — really big butts, and it will forever be known as the day France banned the burka.
On Wednesday Vaseline debuted a Facebook app that you can use to lighten your skin in profile pictures, someone at MTV reused the ending of another reality TV show for The Hills series finale, and we reused an idea from earlier in the week so we’d have an excuse to look at models and their adorable puppies.
Thursday came and Bergdorf Goodman revealed it had spent six years working on its July window displays, we analyzed the five most horrifying beauty disasters of modern time, and Kristen Kennis sued Vampire Weekend for unauthorized use of her likeness on the cover of their newest album.
On Friday, George Clooney reminded us how charming he can be — even in Italian court. Glenn Beck called the outfit Michelle Obama wore to the Gulf Coast an outrage, and MAC and Rodarte stirred up some controversy through thoughtlessly naming products in their new makeup collaboration.
