At most stylish red-carpet-y events, we’ve been trained to expect to see clothes that look good on the stars we love. At last night’s Women in Film Pre-Emmy Dinner, we only saw the stars we love.
Now, that’s not to say that anyone looked bad, but when we look at photos from these types of events we’re normally stunned by the abounding glory of a few outfits and pleased in what we see with others. For the most part, though, everyone at this event looked so-so.
There were high points, though — Elisabeth Moss from Mad Men showed up in a form-fitting gray cocktail dress that we’ve love more every time we see it. True Blood‘s Anna Paquin wore a red one-shoulder dress that was simple and chic enough to stand out in a sea of mediocrity.
And it wasn’t just the women at the event who have us nonplussed — some of the guys in attendance couldn’t be bothered to shave or put on a decent blazer. Glee‘s Mark Salling didn’t even look like he wanted to be there.
So we’re at a loss. Maybe the invitation said “Dress code: just don’t even try.” Maybe none of the attendees’ stylists were in a good mood. But one thing’s for certain: there’s a bad case of Styleitis going around Hollywood.
this is some kind of spaceship or something.
